Dry Scaly Skin?

omega

Every winter, I experience the same thing. Dry, scaly skin that can never get enough moisture. I am always trying new ways of giving my skin the perfect moisture.

Here are some tips on getting moisture back in your skin.

1. Do not take super hot showers! As much as it feels so good, do not do this! It really dries your skin out terribly. Stick to warm showers and your skin will thank you.

2. Make sure you are exfoliating. At least once a week for more sensitive skin types and two times a week for normal /oily skin. I have been using this product from Eminence- Strawberry Rhubarb Dermafoliant with Lactic Acid. What I love is it is organic and made with rice powder and lactic acid. Very clean product. This is a gentle exfoliant that makes your skin feel so soft and helps shed any dead skin lingering on the outer layer.

3. If you want to step it up on your routine and the daytime moisturizer is not cutting it…add oils. I love avocado oil on my skin. I use it in the morning, after I get out of the shower on my face and all over my body. You can also use this as part of your night skin care.

Another way you can add oil… after you use your regular daytime facial products, you put less then dime size in your hand first. Then pat the oil all over cheeks, chin and some around the corners of your nose and on your lips. Be careful around your hairline, it tends to get a bit slick. LOL. So pull your hair back if you can for a bit to let the oil absorb ( usually will within 10-15 min).

Option if you have  dry/normal skin you can use almond oil. If you have oily skin you can use jojoba oil, this mimics your natural moisture. My brand I like to use that’s inexpensive is the brand NOW.

4.  You can also make sure you are getting enough vitamins through eating healthy! I like to add Omega- 3 Fatty Acids as a supplement to my daily routine. Nuts, olive oil, flax seed, chia seeds, dark leafy veggies and fish are loaded with Omega’s. Omega’s help with inflammation in the body and reduces wrinkles. There are many more health benefits to fish oil on the body as a whole.

I have to add sleeping and movement are also very important in combo with your diet to keep the body and skin looking it’s best.
